Everyone was so nice, and the restaurants had gluten-free options marked. As someone with celiac disease, it is usually hard for me to eat safely on vacation, but I did not have that problem here! I was also obsessed with our villa’s open air bathroom!
We didn’t have any complaints.
The staff were truly amazing – good choice of restaurants – with the sunset bar a standout! The view from the main public spaces towards the mainland was beautiful (although windy)...
It was all just a little bit tired around the edges – showing its age a little... The sound of the seaplanes taking off every couple of minutes was a little annoying – although the number and noise main commercial aircraft taking off from Male airport weren't too bad...
I think the hotel is great if you are only going for a short trip at the Maldives as it is 10 min from Male and good value for the Maldives. Compared to other places in the Maldives, the food is spectacular in the hotel. I especially recommend going to the Japanese restaurant where they have teppanyaki. Moreover, the hotel is very big and has some nice activities such as a tennis court, gym, etc. I would not recommend the all-inclusive option if you are not a huge eater/drinker. They do make you pay a lot per person, when an average meal did cost us more 40-50 dollars per person.
Because the island is so close to Male, half of the island, including where there is the pool, is with a view on Male which is not the ideal typical view people seek when going to the Maldives. It does have some charm in the evening, but if you want a clear sea view, you have to go to a further away hotel. I think this hotel is idea for a weekend getaway, but perhaps not the hotel one should get if you are in the Maldives for over 3-4 days. It is very important to read the fine prints in the Maldives - there are a lot of taxes and hidden costs. The speed boat from and to the hotel is also an extra 113 dollars. It ends up being quite expensive. Moreover, whilst drinks are quite appropriately priced, the food is quite expensive (but this would be everywhere in the Maldives). There is no shop on the island and mini bar snacks are expensive, so I recommend bringing your own/buying them from the airport.
From the moment we arrived, everything about Kurumba felt exceptional. The island is stunning, the ocean is breathtaking, and the atmosphere strikes the perfect balance between relaxed luxury and warm, genuine hospitality. The service truly stands out—every single staff member made us feel welcomed, cared for, and completely at home. You can genuinely feel the pride and heart the team puts into what they do.A very special thank you to Ravi from the pastries section ?Ravi went above and beyond to make sure our monkey bread was absolutely perfect every single time. His attention to detail, kindness, and passion for his craft made such a difference and added a personal touch we will never forget. It’s little moments like this that turn a great holiday into an unforgettable one.Amazing service, amazing island, amazing staff, amazing ocean.Kurumba isn’t just a resort—it’s an experience.
We love the food to many option and excellent details
walk a lot to go restaurants
I’m thrilled to express my happiness and satisfaction with this place and its staff. From the moment we arrived, they went above and beyond to ensure our comfort and enjoyment. Mr. Maged and Mr. Joy were always there to support and facilitate everything we needed. The food was exceptional, both in quality and cleanliness. I highly recommend this place for family trips.
It was very expensive. The food portion is very small for the money that you pay.
Pricey. All inclusive option is not very attractive. Also the photo shoot that was offered for free was not granted. The guy who’s responsible for that department was rude and was surfing Facebook while talking to him trying to book an appointment . He didn’t even try to make an öffnet to accommodate us!
This resort is located on a very small island in the Maldives, but you’ll never get bored! It’s the perfect place for snorkeling and relaxing on the beach. The atmosphere is incredibly peaceful and private, with so few people around and it honestly feels like you have the whole island to yourself.
The only downside was the presence of some spiders and bugs, but it’s a tropical island so that’s pretty common and to be expected.
Kurumba is such a wonderful and old island. The vegetation is very very beautiful, so many coconut trees and shade on the whole island as well as privacy, everything feels so natural and due to the old trees it is never really hot. I barely saw any other guests & mostly had the beautiful beaches for myself. The beaches are pristine and the team was this time very caring and friendly. The fresh fruits for breakfast good choice and fresh. The close location to Malè and airplanes taking off basically above you which you can hear all the time. Out of 9 breakfasts I had and only 1 time they had fish. As mostly vegan eating only fish sometimes, there are no protein choices in the morning, no fresh green juice. And every day everything the same & quite limited.Spa prices are fine and the spa is fantastic. My therapist Thib from Thailand was so wonderful that I did book twice 120 min and 90 min with her. A special thanks to Moosa Nazeer from the reservation team.
The prices for food is way too much for the value/portion size. A salad with 12 salad leaves comes $30 ++++ ... Fresh coconut $7.77, coca cola $5 +++ and the laundry prices are ridiculous. One panties $12 ? Sunset cruise 1 h $120.. I am now in another resort and the sunset dolphin cruise is $55 on a yacht. I don't think hiking up prices like Kurumba does will pay off. People want to do stuff on vacation and chose islands where is a better price/value for activities. The excursions are way to expensive in 2025. Last year 3 h private speedboat was $600 now its $1000.
The bungalows are amazing and the spa was our best experience
Food is too expensive I wouldn’t prefer food to be that over priced. Another thing coz it’s close to the airport you near the planes all the time which takes away to enjoy the quietness of the sea
Location and facilities
There are no buggies to go back to villas and bungalows etc one has to walk long distances which can be very challenging for families with kids The safe deposit did not work. We asked for someone to come take a look at it but they never came.
The staff (especially, Silvia at reception and the chief lady at Cafe) were very friendly. The island is clean.Kids club is much better than 2 years ago (special thanks to Marina).
Came back to Kurumba after two years and were strictly disappointed. The hotel is definitely not a 5 star resort: everything is extremely dull and worn out, episodic maintenance doesn’t work as the whole resort should be closed for renovation. Breakfast in the main restaurant is disgusting. Wasn’t able to sleep well on the sagging mattress due to recent compression fracture of the vertebra, asked for change/help - nothing happened. If to compare with our 2023 stay, the menu for Dine All Around was significantly limited making the choice of Dine All Around a waste of money. The wine selection is awful, during our stay three wines from the wine list became out of stock with no replacement. The territory itself is clean, but the house reef is extremely poor due to lots of construction around.
Everything was great ! The room was amazing with perfect view , clean and well maintained. The staff were friendly polite and very helpful. The food was great as well a lot of options .
I did not enjoy so much the food in the Japanese restaurant, Hamakaze. Nothing was bad but it was a a bit average . Location of the restaurant and service tho were great.
It’s like any other resort in Maldives. But this one has legacy because it’s the oldest. I was told heads of states stay here. That is exactly what destroyed our family vacation. It was an ordeal. I was told by the property general manager Ali Farooq NOT to visit the resort during the month of July as they have many VIPs visiting to celebrate Maldives national day. Something they should clearly mention on BOOKINGS.com. We were subjected to no access to the reef for snorkeling for 3 days because of security of some head of state. Inside the resort access was restricted so my kids couldn’t go to the pool etc and we were all told off no access to breakfast one day. Military uniformed men with automatic weapons on the beach and common areas destroying what was suppose to be a private family time. Men in full attire every part of the beach taking photos on their phones of guests. I have photo and video proof of all these claims. The only saving grace for this hotel is their staff members, particularly Marina in the kids centre and Sylvia the Guest relations manager who understood, acknowledged and showed compassion towards what had transpired. But she said she cannot do much as I asked that maybe the resort should compensate for the 3 days of absolute nightmare. We were there for 10 days from day one there were military men in fullUniform on the beaches etc. The GM of the resort Ali Farooq is clueless. His focus is on how he can get photos with high government officials and I don’t blame a man to be ambitious but I think someone needs to explain to him that the hospitality industry is about hosting your guests and delivering on the promise of the services you charge. But with all this aside. The resort is like any other in the Maldives which are offer better prices from room rate to food etc we are reqular Maldives visitors. This resort is not a MALDIVES experience for the dollar value attached to it.
Food prices are just ridiculously high. Also too close to the airport so you can hear airplanes from 6am to late night. It’s like living on one end of London Heathrow runway.
The location with 10 minutes by speedboat from Male airport. The beach was amazing and the staff was super friendly.Sivilya the Customer Manager was helpful in making our 2 night stays even better.

The bathroom was in an open area, and the shower was transparent. Even though I thought it couldn’t be seen from the garden because of the walls, the walls were low, so I felt uncomfortable and covered myself with a towel.
The beachfront villa was beautiful and well-arranged, with stunning clear waters, soft white sand, and perfectly maintained gardens. Cleanliness was exceptional both inside the villa and all around the island. Room service was excellent, and the variety of restaurants made the stay even more enjoyable. I especially loved Café for its Italian dishes, the Arabic Palace for its delicious meals, and Thila for its premium breakfast and amazing desserts at dinner. The staff there were very kind, attentive, and incredibly helpful with my kids. Kandu Bar had a lovely atmosphere, great service, and enjoyable evening activities. The kids’ club was absolutely wonderful, offering a variety of fun daily activities that kept the children entertained and happy. A special thanks to the manager, who was present around the resort, always checking on guests to ensure they were enjoying their stay, and to the head chef and all the hardworking staff.
Honestly, there was nothing significant to dislike. Everything was well-organized and exceeded our expectations.
